Applications are available at the Villa Parke Community Center for participants 18 years old and over.  Entry fee is $10 per person.  Last year’s bench press winner in the Super-Heavyweight Division was Ricky Pickens, pressing an amazing 565 pounds!

“Ricky has retired from competition, but remains closely involved with the event.  The door is now open for a new generation of competitors to try and surpass Ricky’s maximum lifts, so we encourage them and the community to come out and support the exciting event,” said Bill Davis, Recreation Coordinator with the City’s Human Services and Recreation Department.

The contest started about 10 years ago as friendly competition among those working out with weights at Villa-Parke Community Center.  The event was formalized eight years ago and continues to grow each year, attracting additional sponsors and prizes.  The event welcomes male and female competitors in five weight categories, with trophies awarded for first, second and third places in each weight classification.

This year’s competition is sponsored by Max Muscle, Juice It Up!, Triangle Sports and the Human Services and Recreation Department.
