Today, Alhambra is known for its eye-catching, historical craftsmanship of its homes, and for the people who immigrated to the city forming a unique melting pot.
As a result of the Chinese immigrating to Alhambra in the 1980s, there has been a large wave of Chinese Businesses booming. On Valley Boulevard there are Chinese shops, supermarkets, restaurants, banks, medical offices, and realtors. Every year on this street there is a festival called The San Gabriel Valley Lunar New Year Parade where majority Asian Americans celebrate Chinese New Year, where they wash away any bad times they held in the past, and hope for good prosperity in the new coming year.

Pyrenees Castle – This beautiful castle was created in 1926 by a man named Slyvester Dupuy. Dupuy’s dream was to build a replica of the Chateau that he cherished while growing up in the South of France. He came to America and became very wealthy in Agriculture, and when the moment came he began hiring architects, mostly artisans from Europe, to begin working on this masterpiece. Although the whole castle was embellished with chandeliers, wooden floors, and paneling, water fountains, a marble center hall, tennis courts, and children playgrounds, the landscaping of the grounds was never finished because towards the end of Dupuy’s life he had lost a lot of wealth in oil investments. After Dupuy’s death in 1936, his children sold the castle to a new owner. Over all the years after the creator’s death, several different owners had possession over the castle. Currently, the owner of the castle is Phil Spector. Still looking as enchanted as when it was created, the Pyrenees castle will always be a mysterious, significant legend that seems to sway the minds of Alhambrans, and all its visitors.
