Levitt Pavilion – Free Summer Music Concerts

Levitt Pavilion – Free Summer Music Concerts

Music, Martinis, and the Maestro

On June 15 the Levitt Pavilion kicks off it’s free summer concert series including 50 concerts! Throughout the months of June, July and AugustĀ  you will get the chance to hear jazz, blues, pop and world music artists and there will be performances for all ages. Pack up your favorite foods, bring your chairs or picnic blankets and enjoy the sounds of summer under the blue sky in the heart of Old Town Pasadena!

The Summer series is held at Levitt Pavilion on 85 E. Holly St. Pasadena, CA 91103 at the Memorial Park. It’s an event for the whole family and there’s a concert program specially put together for the young ones called the Children’s Series. It will include everything from circus clowns to rock puppets!

Did you know that the venue’s historic gold shell was known for community gatherings and sing-a-longs during the 1930s and 40s? However, in 2002 the Mortimer Levitt Foundation granted the City of Pasadena funds to restore the forgotten Memorial Park stage after not being in use since the 70’s. The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion group was formed by Pasadena residents, including founders Douglas Huberman and Barbosa Polverini, to see the renovation through and develop what we now know as the Summer Music Concert Series.

The first artist on stage this summer is the beautiful singer and jazz legend Barbara Morrison. Barbara has performed with no other than Ray Charles, Etta James, Tony Bennett and many more. Her voice has dazzled many audiences both here in the U.S. and the rest of the world! The concert will take place on Sunday June 15, beginning at 7.00 pm. Get there early to enjoy the pre-concert festivities which include a KidZone and Open Mic!
