Have you spotted a tall majestic structure when walking around in Old Town Pasadena and always wondered what it is? Some of you might even have walked up to its gates and seen its beautiful architecture that is inspired by Moroccan, Spanish and Victorian styles giving it a unique look. This Friday June 6 The Friends of Castle Green will once again welcome the public to experience the spectacular and historic Castle Green!
It will be an evening like no other! Between 5-9 pm you will get a chance to explore the magnificent Castle Green. Travel back in time and find the many architectural gems including the grand staircase, the Turkish and Moorish rooms. You will also get the chance to see the rooftop terrace as the sun is setting! Light refreshments will be served and Janet Klein & her Parlor boys will entertain with their jazz sounds in the ballroom. Period dress is encouraged and can be a simple as a feather and rhinestones in the hair for the ladies.
The Castle Green was built in 1898 as an annex to The Green Hotel in Pasadena. In the 1920’s it was converted to private residences and has since then attracted many famous designers, artists and musicians. Among them are Tim Burton, film director and animator (Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare before Christmas) and Marcel Duchamp, French artist closely associated with the Da Da and Surrealism movements. The Castle Green is also a popular film location and you will spot it in both films and TV-series such as True Blood, CSI Miami, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, We Were Soldiers, The Last Samurai and many more.
For those who love ghost stories, The Castle Green has actually made it on the list of haunted places in California. It has been said that doorknobs have been turning, shadows have been passing under doors and even faucets turned on in some apartments.
