Weekend Things To Do in Pasadena 4/23-24

Weekend Things To Do in Pasadena 4/23-24

It’s not too crazy to say there could be 365 things to do in Pasadena each week!  For this weekend here are just a handful which I personally recommend. Personally, because for one thing I happen know, or have met, some of the good people behind all these events, and well, I just like these particular ”things to do” in Pasadena this weekend! I think most of you, to say the least, will love them also! And secondly, because I try to select only events which are FREE or very low cost.

WOMEN’S CITY CLUB of PASADENA Spring Boutique & Club Fair. 10am-4pm. FREE! Also an opportunity to socialize and to inquire about membership and meet some members!  I’m neither member or woman, but I’ve been to the women’s club many times for what not that some may think I am!  Yet, each time I’ve visited I’ve felt welcomed as if, well, as if I were a member or woman, hohoho! More info: (626)796-0560 or Womens City Club Calendar.

Annual CALTECH JAZZ FESTIVAL!  1-6pm at the Gates Patio at CalTech campus (in the center of campus).  And you thought CalTech was just into science & tech!  They’re artistic & creative wiz’s too!  FREE.  Refreshments available for purchase.  Seating provided, but bring your lawn chair just in case. More info (626)395-3295 or Jazz Festival.

BOOK EVENT:  Lian Dolan, aka Helen of Pasadena to me!, one of my favorite authors and Pasadenan’s, interviews Christine Moore & Cecilia Leung authors of the “Little Flower Baking” cookbook.  Food mixed with Books – how can anyone resist!  3pm at the historic Vroman’s Bookstore main store.  FREE!  More info: (626)449-5320 or Vromans BookStore Event.

CHILD’S PLAY: Music in Celebration of Childhood.  Works by Mozart, Bizet, Ravel, Musgrave & others, featuring PCC Pianists.   8pm at Westerbeck Recital Hall at the Center for the Arts, Pasadena City College.  My only event which isn’t free, but the the price to pay is relatively small:  $10 (students/seniors/staff $5). More info (626)585-7500 or “Childs Play” Piano Ensembles

Saturday AND Sunday

RECTOR’S FORUM:  Rector Ed Bacon interviews film/TV director & screenwriter Rodrigo Garcia on his work, faith, and family, 10am. His film, “Last Days in the Desert” screens at 3pm.  Bacon will soon retire and this will also mark his “grand finale” forum.  FREE!  At All Saints Church.  More info: (626)796-1172 or Rodrigo Garcia at AllSaints.

CONCORSO FERRARI Car Show!  Famous, fancy, fabulous, and, XXpensive Ferrari’s make their annual pilgrimage to literally take over famous & fabulous Colorado Boulevard in Old Town Pasadena.  The ultimate driving machine!  FREE. Bring your camera!  10am-3pm.  More info: FCA-SW Concorso Ferrari.

Okay, this should keep you busy just enough.  But, if you play your scheduling right, you could even make it to almost all of these great happenings!
