Prepare yourself for the biggest open street event in California on Sunday March 5. To celebrate the opening of the Foothill Gold Line extension, with new stations in Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa, a nearly 18 mile stretch from Azusa to South Pasadena will be partially closed down and FREE from all automobile traffic.
It’s not a race so YOU decided on where to start and how you would like to make your way through the route. Walk, bike, run, skate, dance…all is welcomed as long as it’s non motorized. The event is free, but bring some dollars if you’d like to eat and drink along the way. Also Metro fares will apply. There will be Metro staff available to assist at the event stations and Union station.
The route roughly follows the Metro line (see map below). Eight activity hubs will be available along the way, where you’ll be able to stop, rest, drink water, enjoy music, use the portable restrooms and more. For the location and specifics of each hub, click HERE.
The opening ceremony will take place in South Pasadena on Mission St and Meridian at 8:45 am, which will include special guest speakers & appearances, giveaways, a free bike raffle!
So gather your friends, family, co-workers, pets, take plenty of pictures and make it a fun-filled day!
