Looking at this restaurant from the street, you’d be surprised to find out how large it actually is inside. The first time, I stopped by Mike and Anne’s was a few years ago when I was enchanted by their outdoors patio area. It was breakfast time, the line at Heirlooms down the street was too long and I wanted a quieter, more comfortable experience. I was driving by Mike and Anne’s for some time and have never had an opportunity to check it out so I ventured there and was quite impressed.
I remember ordering their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and was surprised by how delicate and tasty they were. Very different from your regular buttermilk pancakes and a dish that I would order again and again.
A few weeks ago, I decided to stop by there for lunch with my son. He ordered a hamburger and fries and I had their Chopped Salad with Green Goddess dressing. The salad was good, nothing overly spectacular, but the fries – man oh man – their garlicky goodness had both of us in high heaven. The moment they were set on our table, the aroma of garlic was impossible to resist.
The burger made with angus beef was pretty darn good and prepared perfectly, medium rare as requested.
Overall, definitely a great place to stop by… the food is great, service was good and the fact that you can sit both inside and out, makes it a perfect getaway during a busy day.
