Camellia & Tea Festival @ Descanso Gardens

Camellia & Tea Festival @ Descanso Gardens

Head over to the beautiful Descanso Gardens in La Canada on the last weekend of January and soak in the colorful camellias. It’s free of charge on Saturday only, as the festival will be a part of the Museums-Free-For-All-Event…hint hint…plan on visiting more museums that day!!

Camellia and Tea Festival 2016

The camellias are bushes or shrubs that are evergreen, meaning the leaves stay on throughout the year. The plants are found in southern and eastern Asia. The beautiful flowers vary in colors from white, pink, red and yellow. They usually have five to nine petals and can be anywhere from less than 1/2 to 5 inches in diameter. The tea plant is called Camellia sinensis, and plays an important commercial role for the tea production. During the festival you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the different tea leaves from the Chado Tea Experts in Pasadena and also through the guided camellia walk tour. Sample a variety of teas and get creative by trying the hands-on art activities. What can be more relaxing than flowers, a hot beverage and art work?! Have fun out there!
