Enjoy concerts and listening to live music?
Day 242 of 365 Things To Do in Pasadena and a little trip to Caltech has got you covered.
On January 22nd @ 8 pm, the California Institute of Technology will present their second annual Latin Jazz Concert
This year’s featured acts will be the Caltech Jazz Bands, directed by William Bing.
Guest artists include: composer Paul Lopez, vocalist Candi Sosa, Mariachi Alma De Mexico, directed by Juan Gonzalez, and salsa dancers from Caltech’s very own Salsa Dance Club.
Audience members are encouraged to arrive early as last year’s event attracted a large crowd.
The concert is free of charge and open to the public, no tickets are required.
For more information, call the Caltech Music Office, 626-395-3295, or visit CalTech Bands.
Who They Are:
The Caltech-Occidental Concert Band and the two CalTech Jazz Bands draw its musicians from the students, faculty, staff and alumni of the California Institute of Technology and Occidental College, the CalTech-administered Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the local community. The groups rehearse one night a week, and perform several concerts during each school year. Many world-famous musicians perform and clinic with the bands each year.
Each ensemble rehearses only one night a week, and performs three or four concerts every year. The ensembles have played many world premieres and performed for over ten thousand people. The bands have recorded four CDs, some of which are still available at the Caltech Bookstore. Three years ago, the Caltech Jazz Bands recorded at world-famous Capitol Studios in Hollywood.
Don’t miss an opportunity to get out and enjoy the sounds of the evening!
We send out a big THANK YOU to 365 Things To Do in Pasadena Facebook Fan Kathryn Oliveros for sharing this community event with us.
Without all the support from YOU, our fans, we wouldn’t be the success we are. Many thanks! 😉
