Altadena may seem like a small, sleepy, town north of Pasadena. However, there are several different neighborhoods in Altadena. Today, let’s discover the “Meadows” one of the best kept secrets of Altadena. The Meadows is located north West of Altadena. Canyon Crest Road just north of Loma Alta Drive will take you through a slight winy road, up the hills to The Meadows.
Before entering this quaint, yet active community, a charming sign saying, “Welcome to the Meadows” greets you. You know from the sign that the residents are proud of their special neighborhood. The Meadows is home to about 250 houses which are situated on the ridge of El Prieto Canyon to the west and Millard Canyon to the east.
Many of the residents have a million dollar view of the beautiful mountains, canyons, the city lights and at night, the skies fill up with shining stars. Majority of homes were built in the 1950’s to the early 1960’s. Many who move to The Meadows are people looking for a quiet community who enjoy, care and understand nature. On a clear day, the views are phenomenal with gorgeous San Gabriel Mountains with clear blue skies that opens your eyes and mind.
The residents of the community donated funds to put the Welcome to The Meadow sign. There are gold plaques on back of the sign with names of the residents and date when they became the family of the community. The landscape and garden is also overlooked by the residents of The Meadows.
There are hiking trails starting at El Prieto Road, and at the top of Rising Hill Road. The Meadows is located at the entrance of the Angeles National Forest.
How about a tour of the Meadows, and find your perfect San Gabriel Foothill home surrounded by the mountains and trails?
