Pasadena Chalk Festival 2015

Pasadena Chalk Festival 2015

Pasadena Chalk Festival

Two days a year at the Paseo Colorado in Pasadena’s Old Town, artists from all around the area come together to create breathtaking imagery using nothing but chalk as their paintbrush.  The Pasadena Chalk Festival is a FREE event for the public who can see a whole range of artistic talent, from 3D art, to animations, to replicas of famous works and more. Every year our team gets excited to go out and explore all of the different imagery scattered across the beautiful outdoor mall and enjoy a beautiful sunny Southern California summer weekend in the process.

The event takes place on Father’s Day weekend, making it a great reason to bring the whole gang!  There is even a special area, called Kids Chalkland, where children can go and make a card for their Dad and even get face painted!  And if you did not think a free family-friendly art festival could get any better, all of the money that is made from sponsers will go towards the community arts programs of the Light Bringer Project.  This nonprofit is a Pasadena-based organization founded in 1990 with the intent on bringing more art to the public eye.  They benefit the youth of Pasadena and Los Angeles through the power of education and art all the while sponsoring events for the local community like the Pasadena Chalk Festival.

Along with all the visual art, various performers will be providing music for the scene with sounds ranging from award winning Native American Instrumentals to a four piece rock cover group that perform a slew of hits spanning the 20th/21st century.  If you get hungry you will have a hard time NOT finding food as being in the heart of Old Town allows you to explore the boatloads of restaurants found throughout the city.  To find more information on parking, location, or for any general information feel free to visit the festival’s website here.
