Pasadena Celebrates its 125th Birthday

This summer the City of Roses marks an amazing milestone.

In June, the historic city of Pasadena officially turns 125 years old. That means it’s time for celebration like no other! 🙂  Its also the perfect 365 Things To Do in Pasadena® outing. Thank you Katheryn Oliveros for the heads up!

Pasadena’s Official 125th Birthday Party

Saturday, June 11, noon to 7 p.m.
The official birthday extravaganza, featuring a cake by Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, displays, music, dance, oral histories and activities for the kids will be hosted by the Pasadena Museum of History.

There is quite a line up to keep you entertained throughout the day.

So below, we’ve decided to highlight a few of the many attractions and activities.

Activities & Entertainment  kicking off right at 12 pm:

Pasadena City College Pep Band – Main Stage

History Conversations  – PMH Gardens, continuing until 3:00 pm

Antique Vehicles – PMH Parking Lot, continuous throughout event

Mad for Hats! & Pasadena Patron Exhibitions – History Center Galleries, continuing until 5:00 pm

Crafts Workshop with Helen Marish – Giddings Room, 12:00 to 3:00 pm & 4:00 to 5:00 pm

Chalk Artist

Food & Beverages – Adjacent to the Main Stage

Birthday Cake and Presentation:

Please Note: All ceremonial activities will take place on the Main Stage; most other activities will be closed during this time.

 

2:50 pm – “Music in Pasadena” with Maestro Victor Vener

 

2:55 pm – Birthday Cake Grand Entrance featuring:

Chefs from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts

Pasadena City College Herald Trumpets

California Philharmonic Brass Quintet

 

3:00 pm – World premiere of paint the town rose: a fanfare for Pasadena, composed by Roger Allen Ward for this occasion; performed by combined brass groups and drums, with Victor Vener conducting.

 

3:05 pm – Happy Birthday, Pasadena!

 

3:10 pm – Cake Cutting Ceremony
