Next Saturday on June 6, Pasadena residents can bring their household hazardous waste and electronics to safely dispose the waste for free. The event is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works in cooperation with the City’s Department of Public Works.

If you’re a Pasadena resident and have hazardous waste and e-waste items in your home, it is time to collect them and head down to the Rose Bowl Parking lot on June 6 between 9am-3pm.

Hazardous waste items include automobile items such as; used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, automobile batteries and brake fluid. In addition you can also bring household items such as; expired pharmaceuticals, fluorescent light bulbs, household batteries, paint, paint thinner, cleaners with acid or lye, pesticides or herbicides.

E-waste items can also be brought to the event, they will be disposed safely and many parts will be recycled. The type of electronic items that are accepted include: keyboards, laptops, docking stations, computers, scanners, printers, fax machines, computer mice, flat screens, DVD payers, VCRs, cassette players, stereos, PDAs, computer monitors, tape drives, household batteries and shredders. Please do not bring explosives, radioactive materials, trash and tires, controlled substances or household appliances.

A maximum of 15 gallons of household hazardous waste and 125 pounds of e-waste is allowed.  There will be different collection sites arranged at different stations in Parking Lot K. Please use caution while traveling through the area and follow the instructions given by even staff.
