Day 119: Le Pain Quotidien Quiches and Tartines

It’s hard not to notice Le Pain Quotidien in Old Pasadena.  Each time I walk by this cute cafe with a communal wood table and chairs and an absolutely awesome display of Artisan breads, I want to stop, if only to look at their beautiful pastries and baked goods.  So… day 119 of 365 Things To Do In Pasadena takes us for a light lunch at LPQT!

Le Pain Quotidien

Breads and pastries

Yesterday, was finally my day to stop and explore a little more.  Le Pain is known for its use of organic products and offers a healthy alternative and an interesting menu.  Pricey as it may be, my friends speak highly of their quiches and Tartines.  Their menu is extensive and unique and includes items like Seaweed Salad, Aged Gruyere Tartine, Quiche Lorraine, and their famous Mint Lemonade!

The pastries are beautiful.  Lemon Meringue and giant Chocolate Chip Cookies were just begging to be taken home.  I walked away with one of their gorgeous loaves of bread.

Now… personally… when it comes to Artisan, fresh baked breads, my vote still goes to Euro Pane Bakery.  I especially love the selection at the Euro Pane 2.  So… coming to LPQT, I’ll stick to other wonderful items on their menu.

If you like to keep your kitchen well stocked, you will also find an interesting selection of spices, jams and other accouterments at Le Pain Quotidien.

As I was doing research, I was surprised to learn that Le Pain Quotidien has bakeries in 20 countries including Russia, Kuwait and Qatar amongst others like France, Germany and Switzerland.  In US, they are in six states and are continually expanding.  This is not your small mom & pop type of place… appearances can be deceiving!
