Having a curious day?
Day 135 of 365 Things to do in Pasadena invites us to celebrate National Curiosity Day with Vroman’s Hastings Ranch.
What is National Curiosity Day, you ask? Well it is a day inspired by everyone’s favorite little meddlesome monkey and children’s book character, Curious George! Vroman’s Hastings Ranch is throwing a party to honor the 70th birthday of this inquisitive little hero and to celebrate the big imaginations of children everywhere. This fun-filled family event will feature read alouds, games, activities, special guests and much much more.
This little monkey has certainly come a long way in the past 70 years! From a humble begging capturing the hearts of children and parents alike as story time favorite, this little monkey is a major movie star known around the world.
Curious George appeared in 1941. This book begins with George living in Africa and tells the story of his capture by the Man with the Yellow Hat, who takes him on a ship to “the big city” where he will live in the zoo. The second book, Curious George Takes a Job (1947), begins with George living in the zoo, from which he escapes and has several adventures before the Man with the Yellow Hat finds him and takes George to live at his house. The remaining stories tell of George’s adventures while living at the house of the Man with the Yellow Hat.
The celebration will take place this Saturday September 25th starting at 1:00 p.m.
Location: Vroman’s Hastings Ranch – 3729 E. Foothill Blvd. Pasadena, California 91107
