I strongly encourage my home staging clients to be absent or “scarce” when their home is being shown for sale. The home owner’s presence can be a major impediment to the sale. Why would they want to do that?

I got a laugh from #1. I went to do a consultation on a home and was asked to remove my shoes when I arrived. No problem. But after stepping on crunchy spots and sticky spots I didn’t want to put my shoes back on for fear of soiling the insides. After I got to my car I used a wet wipe to clean the bottom of my feet. Now I always wear socks when going on a consultation:o))

I agree completely! Can’t stand the lurking homeowner. They should NEVER be present. Especially not kids and dogs!!!

Thanks Ana! Yes… I think some real estate agents do not take the time to educate their home sellers. Or, the home sellers just choose to not believe them.

Lol, this is soooo true!

Great advice, last year I had a homeowner follow the buyer around and it made the showing so uncomfortable for my buyer that they rushed through the house and could not wait to leave.
